About the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies

An independent academic institution for education and research based in the State of Qatar. The Institute is a private, non-profit organization that works exclusively for educational, research and community service goals. It was established by the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies in 2014 as an independent legal entity.

Institute programs and faculties

The Institute offers master’s programs in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, and the College of Public Administration and Development Economics. In addition, the Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies offers a master’s program in Conflict Management and Humanitarian Action.

The first academic year at the institute started on October 4, 2015; As a result, 148 male and female students were accepted out of 903 applications. As for the academic year 2016-2017, 1,380 applications were received to join the institute.

The institute plans to have the total number of students enrolled in it in the coming years between 350 and 400 students, with the gradual preparation to offer study programs at the level of doctoral degrees.

The Institute offers master’s programs in two colleges: the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, and the College of Public Administration and Development Economics.

Doha Institute for Graduate Studies Scholarship

The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies offers a number of scholarships annually to attract academically qualified students from inside and outside the State of Qatar. The scholarships offered vary, some of them are awarded on the basis of academic merit, and others are on the basis of financial need.

1- The scholarship based on academic merit, which is the Tamim scholarship

It is a scholarship based on academic merit and excellence; It is intended for the most distinguished Qatari and international students in Qatar and the Arab world.

The scholarship covers 100% of the tuition fees prescribed for students according to each program for Qatari students and residents of the State of Qatar.

Its benefits include

  • 100% tuition fee coverage.
  • 100% coverage of university housing fees at the institute.
  • Monthly allowances for the student determined by the Institute.
  • One-way tickets from the country of recruitment and back to it once upon completion of the study period.
  • Health insurance under the umbrella of the Primary Health Care Corporation for those who prove that they do not have other insurance.
  • Students are not entitled to modify scholarship benefits or claim cash allowances for benefits they do not benefit from.
  • The conditions of the scholarship do not change with the change in the legal status of students in the State of Qatar, except with the approval of the Institute.

Notice

To encourage academic excellence, the Institute can open the application for this scholarship to students of the Institute who have obtained an honors degree after completing one academic year at the Institute.

2- The grant based on the students’ financial need, which is a sanad grant

It is a scholarship based on the financial need of students, and it is intended for Qatari and international students and residents of Qatar.
The scholarship covers from 10% to 100% for Qatari students; According to the following categories:

Students who do not have jobs, whether in the governmental, semi-governmental or private sectors, provided that they present a certificate stating that they are not working from the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs.
Students who work in private sector institutions that do not fall within the approved institutions of the government scholarship program.
The scholarship covers 100% of the tuition fees prescribed for students according to each international student program,

As for students residing in Qatar

  1. The scholarship covers from 10% to 100% of the prescribed tuition fees for students according to each program:

  3. Students who do not have jobs provide evidence that they are not working.

3- External care grants

  1. External sponsorship grants link the institute to its external environment, and grants vary according to the different donors and their conditions.
  2. Donors from government and private institutions and agencies may enter into partnership agreements with the Institute to support students admitted to the Institute, according to the terms stipulated in the agreements, without conflicting with the admission policies.
  3. Partner institutions can nominate students from their employees to continue studying at the institute and finance their studies in the framework of developing their skills, in accordance with the agreed terms and conditions, in line with the admission policies of the institute.

Terms and Standards

  • To be eligible, aspirants must meet the specified criteria:
  • No student may combine the Institute’s scholarships with any other scholarship, regardless of its source.
  • Only students who are in good academic standing can continue to benefit from the Institute’s scholarships. The institute has the right, according to procedures it determines, to withdraw scholarships from students who violate this condition.
  • Students enrolled in executive master’s programs, diplomas or specialized certificates do not benefit from the scholarships offered by the institute. They can benefit from external sponsorship grants depending on the terms of each grant.
  • Students who have previously benefited from the same scholarships in a previous period of study in any of the institute’s programs do not benefit from the scholarships offered by the Institute. Whether it culminated in obtaining a degree or not.

Required Documents

  • Fill out the online admission application, in which all the attachments mentioned below must be submitted (the application is evaluated if it is submitted in full with all the necessary documents, we regret that we cannot review the missing files).
  • A copy of an official identity card (passport for international students – ID card for Qataris and residents).
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent or an official statement of graduation. This does not apply to final year students.
  • An updated copy of the transcripts for all undergraduate courses, including any courses transferred from other universities. Final year students submit all transcripts up to the application date.
  • Two letters of recommendation from two professors who are familiar with the candidate’s academic work and scientific experience. Additional letters of recommendation may also be sent by the applicant’s supervisor at work if the applicant has practical experience.
  • Submit a valid IELTS Academic score of 5.5 or TOEFL iBt with a minimum of 59 valid.
  • All transcripts and a bachelor’s degree certificate or its equivalent must be translated into Arabic or English.

How to apply for the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies Scholarship

  1. The Admissions Department sends a link to the online scholarship application form to all accepted students and the scholarship application includes fields to be filled in; Such as: the student’s personal data, and the family’s monthly income and expenditure data, with supporting documents attached to the student’s data.
  2. Students are given an opportunity to fill out the application with the required data and attach the required documents.
  3. The Admissions and Grants Committee is entrusted with considering applications for grants, and the student’s financial need for the grant is taken into consideration.
  4. After deciding on all scholarship applications, students will be informed of the final results and the percentage of awarded scholarships.
